Validation – Self Confidence

One could write volumes about the content of this video. Why is it that we need to hear validation from other people to be confident in ourselves? Psychologists explain that it probably has to do with early development. We learn from our parents, we mimic them, and we look for approval from them.
When we get older that doesn’t change. We still have a need for approval. We just look for it in different places. Whether it’s acceptance in the country club, or getting that pat on the shoulder from our boss for the good work we did.
This is a natural process, a deep seated need that we have. But wouldn’t it be great to be able to be confident in ourselves without the need for validation from someone else?
In the first few minutes of this video the hero brings about peace in the Middle East and profits for the dental clinics. The power of a little validation can go a long way. But that validation doesn’t have to come from other people…
Give yourself a break!
Stop being so hard on yourself and give yourself some credit! Why wait for others to tell you what you already know! Sure, sometimes you really might not know if what you are doing is the right thing. But there is no need to doubt yourself every with every step you take.
You probably know yourself better than anyone else in the world knows you. Sure, that means that you see everything that is wrong. But you can also see everything that is right! Take the time to give yourself some positive feedback. When you do something right, admit it to yourself. Give credit where credit is due! How do you think that you are supposed to get anything done when you criticize yourself at every turn?
If you let yourself breathe a little, you’ll be able to tap into a wealth of strength waiting inside you. You’ll be surprised by what a little self confidence can accomplish.
